Ahhh, autumn! Leaves are turning, the air is cool, crisp and invigorating, and some of the best riding weather of the year is here for us to enjoy. But as the weeks progress, the brisk clear breezes become a cold biting wind. Those colorful leaves are now matting on the road, wet and slippery, making the possibility of unexpected skids a real threat. Numbness nips at our fingers and toes, and no matter how many layers we throw on, it’s just cold and miserable for riding. At this point, you begin to think about tucking your scooter away for the winter, until the weather once again allows you to enjoy your rides. It’s time to winterize.

More than 17 million vehicles sold around the world, but the appeal of Vespa never seems to run out. Always futuristic, like the MP6 prototype that gave rise to the most famous scooter in the world and now, decades later, became a source of inspiration for the creation of Vespa Quarantasei (Piaggio presented it at Eicma 2011). An exciting mix of tradition and innovation, quotations and projections that make it become a magnet for attention. A unique style, therefore, but also a lot of ecological technology: the single cylinder engine of 125 cc air-cooled powered with electronic fuel injection, is able to combine performance, reliability, security and respect for the environment. The technical data indicate a power of 8.7 kW at 8,250 r / min for the 125 cc version and 9.7 kW at 8,000 rpm for the 150 cc version. Vespa Quarantasei will be produced before the end of 2012.

Over 1,400 exhibitors from the world over are displaying their novelties for the 2-wheel vehicle market in 2012
The 69th International Motorcycle Show (open to the public from 10 to 13 November at Fiera Milano, in Rho) was officially inaugurated today. The opening ceremony saw the participation of Emma Marcegaglia, the Chairman of Confindustria, together with Roberto Formigoni, the President of the Lombard Region, Corrado Capelli, the Chairman of Eicma, and multiple champion Giacomo Agostini.
The show can rely on a net exhibition area of 58,200 m2 to accommodate 1,462 brands from 43 different countries, within 7 Pavilions showcasing a wealth of new products for the two-wheel vehicle sector.
Just about all the most important manufacturing companies have selected Milan to unveil their range-topping products.
The Honda range on display includes the Crosstourer, a maxi enduro bike that was seen last year as a prototype and now is displayed in its final version as a world preview. Another world first is the NewMid maxi scooter with dual clutch gearbox. A fully restyled version of the CBR1000RR Fireblade, the shiniest jewel in the Honda range of sports bikes, is another attraction not to be missed. From Germany, BMW Motorrad has chosen EICMA to launch its first scooter, a twin-engine model available in two versions: a sporty version and one optimised for touring riders. The German stand will also display the G650GS Sertao, the adventuresome “desert bike” from the single-cylinder range by the Munich-based company. In actual fact, no motorbike, scooter, component or accessory manufacturer has come to Milan without announcing some surprises. Additional features characterising this new edition of the world’s most important motorcycle rendezvous include: the competitions staged at “MotoLive” (over 80,000 m2 reserved for top-notch races and unbelievable stuntman acrobatics), “The Green Planet”, a section of the Show entirely dedicated to sustainable mobility, and “EICMA Custom”, an exhibition area specially set up for custom motorcycle fans.
