Last fall I donated my old Bell full face helmet to St.Vinnies as I was resigned to never having another bike.
The inside padding was also flaking off. I was told there were no replacement kits and didn't like the possible dust-mite factor.
On yesterdays test rides I was using a shop helmet made by Nolan.. maybe the N90?..
It was a very comfortable, well fitting .full-face helmet- the lower chin area could be raised up at the click of a button.
It was an older model that was being sold for $269 - the newer ones were $299.
Does anyone know of a similar style of helmet that is less expensive? I know that they can be hugely expensive so that didn't sound
to far fetched but since I have time it doesn't hurt to look for deals.
Thanks.

BTW.. I have to say the Nolan N-90 was a very comfortable helmet. The visor was so clear I had to keep checking that it was in the "down" position. Easy to raise the visor with one hand and also easy to operate the method of raising the chin piece.
It had a tab you slide into a clamp (sorry don't know the term) to secure it at the neck.

Zox, AGV and Fullmer all make reasonably priced modular helmets.

As do HJC and KBC...but as I just said in another thread, they all fit differently, and should be tried on. You can get great deals online if you know what you want to look for, on helmets that are last years, the graphics have changed, etc...another point about modulars: I love my Nolan N-Com, but modulars in general are heavier helmets. Around town, for everyday riding, it's the one I grab...but if I know I'll be going on an all day ride, I look to my lighter full face helmets that are easier on my neck hour after hour.

AGV is an overseas company, and some of their helmets I've tried on absolutely ran small, although I recently tried on one that fit fine. A lot of their helmets are made with flashy racing graphics and they can be pricey. Bell, by the way, makes a nice modular.

Revzilla shows the N90 at about $216 shipped...play around with Google, using the model number and terms like "close out," "sale," or "clearance." You might find a deal based on someone with just a few left in a couple of sizes or too many of a certain color. It's the modern way to "let your fingers do the walking."

To conclude.. I ended up with the Nolan N90 which I am thoroughly happy with. My husband now has one on order too.
Got them thru Revzilla. I wrote in another thread in more detail my impressions of the N90 since having it a few weeks now.
