okay, so i'm having to buy one ASAP. it hit 98 or so yesterday, and this entire week is supposed to be similar. gah! i wore my corrazzo all last week when we were only in the high '80s, and it was just above my heat tolerance limit, especially during long stoplights.

so.

i'm thinkin' either the joe rocket cleo jacket (in baby blue) or the firstgear contour (in pink!). they're comprably priced, both have armor and emergency zip-in waterproof linings, both nice and bright.

any opinions on either? or a different one? anyone else having to deal with texas sorta weather in their locations? how do you put up with it?

it's kinda ironic - i could ride all winter when some of y'all couldn't...i'm worried i'll have to basically garage the scoot if we hit a string of 95-100+ days...which DOES happen every summer, at least once...yeesh...

oh, and pictures!

I think they're both nice looking but don't know how one compares against the other safety-wise. The FirstGear jacket is a new style so there are unlikely any crash reports yet. I'd say try both of them on and get the one that fits you best - make sure the elbow and shoulder armor is in the right place on you. My local dealer ordered the pink and white jacket a few weeks ago and I was going to try it on this week and already told them I'd probably buy it. They said you can also get an inexpensive (~$30) removable zip-out liner for it too which is nice for me because many mornings when I leave for work it's cool outside but by the afternoon we're in a heat wave. This store with the FirstGear jacket chooses to not carry Joe Rocket so I won't see them side by side.

Good luck. Let us know how they compare and which one you decide to get. :)

I just bought my first jacket this weekend. I looked at those Joe Rocket jackets, but wasn't happy with the armor. I couldn't find CE certified on them anywhere, so I don't think they were. Plus, the JR jackets just didn't fit me. The large was too big, and the medium too small.

I ended up with an Olympia Airglide. It's got an inside liner that comes out, and I rode around on Saturday with just the mesh jacket feeling comfortable in 83 degrees (even a little cool as I rode about at 25mph). It didn't stop at my waist, but covered down to my hips. The armor was CE, and there are reflective fabric cords sewn into the jacket. More expensive than the Joe Rocket jacket, but it felt so much better in the fit and safety aspects.

I hear ya. They don't fit me either.

The Olympia jackets are nice. I like the Mustang jacket in the light color and it fit pretty well too.

Hey Julie,

I got a Powersport mesh jacket, and it's great, but it's still hot to ride in...I mean, not as hot as a regular textile jacket, but on days over 90, I sweat a lot! Lucky for me I work outside, so if I'm sweaty when I get to work it's no big deal.

It was beautiful here today! in the low 70's and not a cloud in the sky.
In fact, there was a bit of a chill in the air while I was riding. So I wore a sweatshirt under my hoodie.

Okay people.. that was a bit of sarcasm.. I've been waiting all winter to be able to say this!!!!!
