My Wife, who not 1 year ago proudly proclaimed "I will not ride ON your scooter, and certainly never my own..." passed her MSF course this weekend.
Another pal's wife was also in the class along with HER friend. They had the same instructors I did, and when I showed up to say hi at the end, everyone was all smiles.
They did say that one guy was thrown out for refusing to wear over the ankle boots and proper gloves. They gave him a chance to have some brought but he claimed 'he didnt' need any...". Another guy was a constant nuisance, revving all the time and didn't follow directions. He failed, and instead of rescheduling he just up and left. Both had purchased very large, expensive, big CC bikes before even taking the class.
some people shouldn't ride!

Skully congrats to your wife!
We had a dude like that in our MSF class and all he wanted was to get a big bike and "go fast" ugh temporary citizen syndrome. There always seems to be a jerk in the crowd and those are the ones that end up being scraped off the pavement. Here they are thinking of limiting the cc's on a scooter or motorbike for new riders, which I think is a good thing and they have changed our licensing to a more stringent graduated system.

Whwitch, A friend is passing along the savings on a used Buddy 125. it's the '06 in original orange, but he's made upgrades including horn, headlight, and aftermarket cdi/coil. He's also including the top case, chain lock, and some other misc. bits. Prolly 7k miles on it when we take possession, so it will be a great deal! The lucky guy in question saved his sheckles for a BV350, which will arrive this month. Not sure if she will hit the forums. She's just sort of getting into it so we'll see. I'll present them to her for sure! Hilarious that a year ago she was very 'meh' about scooters at all, now I've busted her checking out seat covers and riding boots .

Congrats to your wife! My husband was also a reluctant rider. He had ridden a good bit a long time ago but really wasn't interested in taking it up again. Now he rides all the time, I can't tell you how often he has thanked me for getting him back into it and on the extremely rare occasions I ask him to use the car he is most unhappy.

Congrats to your wife skully . It's SO easy to get hooked!...and being a woman, it's only natural that she start shopping for accessories . Hope she finds comfy gear so she wears it for every ride! In the MSF course DH and I took, a fella who already had 400 miles on his new, huge motorcycle, took a spill when doing the serpentine around the cones. He was only doing about 15-20 but hit a cone and the bike slid out from under him. Thankfully here they require students to use the bikes provided, since he bent the handlebars and did other damage. It was also a great teaching moment as to what can happen to the rider who goes down, even at a slow speed. There were 2 EMTs taking the course too so they trotted off to their cars and brought back huge First-Aid kits. He did finish the course however, with a passing grade, torn pants and shirt, scrapes and a bruised ego.

Doesn't she like the Buddy you already have? Glad she's starting to have fun with scooters!

Well I'm sure she loves my Buddy, but I want her to have one of her own.
Good and bad:
Bad is that we're still awaiting the arrival of a friend's bv350, which will then in turn herald the sale of his buddy to Angela. Piaggio is apparently in no hurry.
The good: the weather has been total crap anyway. Hopefully it arrives soon, as good weather is sure to start any time now.
