No, it's not a 2 stroke thing. If anything, 2 strokes are known for having lots of oomph. On a 2 stroke engine, and this isn't very technical, you're getting power on both strokes of the piston. On a 4 stroke, it's every other. A 125cc 2 stroke dirt bike, for example, is essentially considered the equivalent of a 250cc 4 stroke, in terms of power and speed.
It's more a 49cc/moped thing. Most states let 49cc scoots be ridden by people without a motorcycle endorsement, and most states are quite specific in how much power the engine can have, and how many mph it can attain. I'd have to look it up, but usually it's what? 30-35 mph? If you derestrict the engine, which means you remove the mechanical issues that keep it from going faster, and get caught going 45 in a state that says 49cc scooters can go over 35, you can get a ticket. If you put in a bigger cylinder kit, and give the engine say, 70cc instead of 49, and keep it registered as a 49cc moped, you can get nailed. Some states let very young folks ride what they define as a "moped' without any license at all. The Met II, which was restricted to 25 mph, was perfect for that need. A lot depends on what state you live in, and how that particular state defines mopeds.

No, not me. You go ahead; I was joking about it, but never came out and said the answer. Besides, I won't have internet access the rest of the weekend. And you have good questions.

Other than being made in China, What did CFMoto, Qlink and Baron Scooters all have in common.

The first thing that came to mind in answer to your question would not be polite. I'm certainly stumped....they're all clones, they make motorcycles and claim to be Hondamatics, they come in cartons that get dropped in your driveway....I have no idea what you have in mind. Anybody have any ideas? The only one I've ever actually seen was a Baron that was a Helix clone. No, wait, that was a Tank. CFMoto makes Qlink and Baron and probably 19 others. Maybe Tank, too. We have a guy that came by one of our club gatherings, but he'd taken all the markings off his. So maybe I've seen two of those. The shop that carried them locally, as well as the Lance dealer, have both already come and gone.

Well, that was kind of a trick question. The answer was they were all made by CFMOTO Until the owner of Baron decided to be the only distributor of CFMOTO in the US, so dropped the Baron brand and pretty much screwed Qlink and now we just have CFMOTO USA Ok, Happy Camper, you're up to bat

Wow, the things you know!
Ok, in keeping with the "what do they have in common" theme, what can you find on both the floorboard of a Vespa P200E and a Honda CH250?

Yup. Do the smaller Elites have them, too? I think the Helix might also. I spent the day here in FL riding along the coast on a 1980 P series shifter with foot brake. Another fellow in our gang who is the original owner of a P series and also has a Stella finally went all out modern and picked up a used Vespa GTS this past week. He's so used to the other bikes...we'd be coming to a stop and you'd see his right foot tap. Or he'd back out of a parking spot, and pop his left hand off the brake lever and wonder why the clutch wasn't catching and he wasn't moving. I am laughing with him, not at him, because after my Kymco is back in service (coolant leak), my foot will do the same thing the first time or two I ride.
The floor's all yours!

I think the Honda Elites 125+ and Yamaha Riva's 125+ had a foot brake. At least my old Riva 125 did.
Now I have to think of a new question Hum........

I forgot about the Rivas. We had a spanking new Riva 180 for about 10 days. A nut on his way to work, and this was before cell phones, sandwiched my ex while he and cars were waiting at a train crossing. You have thought he would have at least noticed the train. Totaled the Riva before we made our first payment, and put my ex in the hospital for 4 days. I think I saw one here in town about a week ago, but I was headed in the wrong direction, and was in the far lane of 4....or I would have gone after it. My son says I am a scooter stalker.

Not anymore that brand isn't; they went on to be the #3 or #4 made in India, depending on who's counting. I would have assumed she'd have a Vespa, but read that she got her hands on a very rare model. So besides it not being a Vespa, here's another hint, without answering it: there are pictures of it on her blog, in the pet section, with a dog or two in the basket. I also learned from reading a very short excerpt from her book that she was riding one day and met P. Diddy, who was also out riding his also turquoise scooter. I never would have figured either of them for a scooter rider. Thanks to snooping around about your question, I also see where P Diddy or Sean or Puff Daddy it whatever he calls himself recently got nabbed riding a scooter here in FL without a license. Ellen, you come up with amazing things.
