Michigan just became a helmet-less state!!! OMG!!! Seeing people riding without a helmet gives me the willies!!!

When I had my accident on my Silverwing last year, I wasn't even ON the road, nor was it high speed, I wiped out on the sand/gravel on a driveway .... broke my right leg, 8 stitches in my left elbow (thought the elbow was broken, but it turned out NOT to be - thank heavens) and I know I knocked my head cuz my helmet is scuffed on the back (didn't even FEEL the head bonk because of the leg and elbow) ... to think what would/could happen at any speed and getting a head bonk! Just makes me cringe! And these big ol' Harley dudes should KNOW better!!! Accidents happen in the blink of an eye ... head injuries are FOREVER!!

I am just overwhelmed that our governor signed this bill into law!!! OMG!!! #-o

Does make me wonder what has become of my home state. :?
My sister called to tell me about it when the governor first signed the bill. She's never liked him anyway so more fuel for the fire.
Are your insurance rates increasing? I know there was something about extra coverage....

We don't have a helmet law in Hawaii, but a lot of people do choose to wear them.

It makes me more mad when I see someone (usually on a sportbike) carrying their helmet on the hook rather than wearing it. :| What was the point in even buying that expensive Arai or Shoei then? :P

I think everyone just looks way cooler and more badass wearing a helmet. :D

We don't have a helmet law in CO either. I do understand the freedom of wearing or not, and that's fine. Our scooter group usually has a wide range of armor or lack thereof.

The longest ride I had sans helmet was 6 blocks, on my way to get a new helmet....

I don't even touch pavement without helmet on!!! My driveway is 1/4 mile long so will ride up to get the mail sometimes, but I don't go out on the road at all!!!

I had my first little scoot (50cc) jump off the center stand on me once, knock me down, and broke a rib! That was on GRASS!! Luckily didn't hit the porch with my head!

Seatbelts in cars save lives (I am living proof!!) ... helmets on bikes save lives .... politicians in office take lives (or so it seems) :(

There have been a couple of times that I've taken my scoot to work in capris with sneakers. Maybe twice. I felt like I had a big target on me! LOL BUT, I have never gone without a helmet. I'm not going to judge the people that choose not to wear them, however, I would never ride without one.
