Are there any senior scooter riders around Georgetown Texas? I'm getting ready to take the classes here and then start shopping. Could always listen to suggestions.

I'm only an HOUR away!! :) Love GT.. my son was @ SW for years, and my 3 kids still in Austin. Also have SIG. OTH. w/business that takes him that way for weeks on end w/job coming up in a couple of weeks, so I'll be going down for that as well. (but? not on my scooter?? I DO have a two cycle carrying toy hauler that actually doubles as my "Pretend RV", so I guess we could use it to move scooters to elsewhere?? I'm new to all this so.. just thinking. :)

57 is a senior????? We have a lot of older riders here and a lot of younger. But when it comes to being a Scooter Diva, age doesn't matter.

Thanks to Lone Star and Ellen, I'm anxious to get into the adventure of scooters. In the middle of reading "Dummies" and will sign up for class soon. Texas requires license for all types of scooters.......great to start with the support.......age is no barrier.......that's a greybuffalo.

I'm referring to age on this earth. By the way I have a chihuahua that looks exactly like your loved one. Her name is "Money"........ Everyone remembers it and I have the opportunity to call for money ......and get it! I just returned from looking at aYamaha Vina 125 (2007). I'm baffled because the owner is not in town and his grandson (not scooter experienced) is handling the possible sale. It only has 300miles. Been sitting for years. He had it taken to the shop last week, and supposedly the shop said all OK, except had to charge the battery. Today however we couldn't start the scooter so I could see if it ran. It is obviously (looks) new but wonder if I should be suspicious of it sitting so long. I go for the class Memorial Week End and then need to decide if or how I should check before making any committment to purchase. ($2000). I'd barter.
Anyone got ideas?

Over 50? What is "senior"? I am 56 and feel 26. Ride like 16! LOL
I would not pay over $1500 for that used Vino 125 AFTER it is running. Then it could be a good deal. Nice scooter!

I am also a senior rider. Began riding when I was 60. I have an '04 Honda Reflex and an '08 Honda Silver Wing with a tow pac kit. I would recommend looking at/checking several scoots before settling on one. If you are buying from an individual, get as much info on it as you can. Has it had regular oil changes? Safety checks?, scheduled regular maintenance?
Both of my scoots were purchased used from dealers who had sold the scoot to the original owners. When you buy from a reputable dealer, you pay higher purchase prices, but you usually can be sure the vehicle is in good shape. Most dealers also offer a short term warrenty with the scoot.

Just a thought... Are you sure the grandson knew how to start the scooter? I'm thinking...need to hold brake, kill switch on, side stand up... I don't know anyone who rides a scoot who hasn't had a momentary panic when their ride wouldn't run...until all those things have been checked, and then the bike starts and runs just fine.

I am so glad to hear that there are some ladies who have had a lot of life experiences. I am 56 years old, and shopping for a scooter. I don't believe that age should hold you back. I still have a lot of roads to cover and can't wait to hit the highway. Currently looking on-line at the Honda PCX. I grew up riding my brother's Honda 65cc so I have a background in scooters. I am having lots of fun window shopping on-line with my morning coffee before work.
Would love to hear stories from anyone about your experiences.
