Got Sweetpea out on the highway this afternoon. This was the first time I ever went 80km per hour (50mph). I was a sweet ride, the only bad thing was that I should have had more layers on. It was quite chilly. :D

rode my scoot 10 miles to daughter's house where it will spend the winter with a 1949,50,52,55,58,60 Harley. the only thing cold on me was hands and that was with glove liners. in fact it was so nice, i really wanted to turn around and leave it home for awhile longer. guess i can always go to her house and take it out.

when i left home my therm said 50, got to her place and hers read 40!!!! very clear and cold tonight. probably the first real killing frost tonight. very unusual.

Sweetpea don't ya just love 2 wheels! We went out on our motorcycles all weekend. Yesterday is was cold, grey and raining. Today it was brilliantly sunny and gorgeous. I had on my motorcycle jacket & pants and I was toasty. I did have a turtle neck, leggings and ski socks underneath it all. It definitely is about layering, I was starting to feel like an oomph lumoopa with all the layers. I am going to try and ride for as long as I can this winter, hoping it will be mild. I can deal with a wet winter, just no snow.

Island Diva, I do love 2 wheels and I have ever since I first took off on my brother's motorcycle, when I was 12. I am also going to ride as far into the season as possible.

whwitch, you daughter certainly loves Harleys. I wouldn't mind owning a Harley but if I was going to buy a motorcycle it would probably be a Honda Shadow Spirit, with the 25 inch seat height.

no, sweetpea--it's all one motorcycle!!!!!!!!!!
just has parts from lots of years--sort of like the old western song (johnny cash?) about the cadillac the guy brought out of the factory in his lunch pail. and actually it is not my daughter's but her roof-mate's.

up here on tug hill we have no choice but to put the 2-wheels up--we get about 300" of snow a year. haloween costumes have to fit OVER snow suits and for easter make sure the eggs are dyed bright colors so they can be seen in the snow! once it comes it doesn't go away until spring because the temperatures do not allow it to melt. good thing i like to x-country ski!

we did have a neighbor who drove a russian motorcycle with a sidecar 20 miles (one way) to work most of one winter. the next spring he MOVED!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Whwitch, my mistake.

I like the name Tug Hill but exactly where do you live? We don't get that much snow here in Southern Alberta. We hardly get any snow compared with you and then we get the Chinook winds that melt whatever snow we may have. Our winters are bitter cold and we get about 6 inches a month during the season.

I won't complain about a BC winter again. It was cold here this morning with frost, it's the dampness that makes it cold here.

Island Diva, the dampness does make it colder, here in SA our air is very dry. Dry cold isn't as penetrating as damp cold.

Sweetpea goes for her first servicing this morning. We have to take her in the back of my husband's truck. She may have to stay there for a few days. :)

tug hill is a plateau in way upstate ny that gets lake effect rian and snow from lake ontario and occassionaly erie too. moisture comes off warmer lake and just sort of dumps over cold land! you really need to love winter sports or else hibernating to live here. BUT we have few tornados, few poisonous snakes, not overly hot weather and high, high humidity, lots of wide open spaces (wonder why?) beautiful scenery and lots of friendly small towns.

I hope sweetpea gets a good check up report! Wishing you some non-snow cold days this winter. I used to live in Prince George, we used to get 10 to 12 feet of snow and it has gotten as cold as -75 with windchill  , even long undies don't keep you warm in that.
