Use a low-charge-rate charger like a Schumacher Maintainer (Wal-Mart $20-22)

Haven't tried this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-XM ... p/15140193
have 2 of these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-XM ... p/15140193

Ah...I will have to get one of these. Thanks!

I can't decide on a hi-viz helmet or a white helmet to which I could maybe add some hi-viz super reflective decals/tape to. Maybe hi-viz jacket + hi-viz helmet would be too much? I don't mind the excessive hi-viz look -- I actually rather like hi-viz -- but I want to be a conspicuous as possible and have read that a white helmet is better :?:

Rallies are wonderful fun! Nola hosted the last Amerivespa; which is like the rally of all rallies, as well as the more local
Big Easy Weekender. Scoot.net has a comprehensive calendar. BTW, down at the bottom of this thread, I posted a link to pics from this past Amerivespa there....

Check out the Bell Revolver, Icon Alliance, and the Scorpion EX-700....they might match your jacket. Try on helmets locally, and don't be afraid to wear them around the store for several minutes. Most motorcycle shops all order from the same major distributors, and can pull out the catalogues to show you....they may not stock certain helmets, but they should be willing to order them in for you. Be sure both you and the shop are clear on whether there would be any shipping or restocking fees. Remember, same size helmets, even within the same manufacturer, can fit differently. If you order online, shop around, because prices will vary. You can get excellent deals on close-outs of prior year helmets, when the manufacturers change colors or graphics. Particularly if you have a small head, you can get super close-out deals on sites like Iron Pony.

White helmets are the best and it will match your scooter.
I think you can get too much Hi-Vis.

Yes, buy the helmet locally, but be sure it is not an old model.
There is a date inside the helmet or on the D-ring strap.
Many manufacturers say the stuff in the lining is good for only 5 years.

I bought an old one by accident and I took it back when the manufacturer didn't support it due to the age.
The next month I saw it on the shelf for sale... really made me wonder about the shop.

Scoot safely,

So much great information. Thank you all!! I'm sure I will have many more questions.
I did get a helmet (not sure I love it), and my two jackets came in -- sheesh, neither one just seem to be "the one."

But <insert drumroll here> -- Yes, I do have my scooter now!! =D>

I haven't had the opportunity to do much other than put her in the garage and gawk and admire. Only rode around the block once.

Since it is Holy Week, and I happen to be an employee of the Catholic Diocese as a musician, it is one crazy week. Plus, the court reporter I work for has taken depositions almost every day this week. Ugh!

So...I'm just counting the days and services and jobs and hours until next week when I can really "bond" with my new baby :)
