Amerivespa 2012 (Lake Geneva Wi) is taking place about 1 hour from us and we are going! Me and my BF are registered and we have our accomodations. I am super excited and I want to make this trip special. I am thinking of going all out and totally "Going Dragon" with my scooter and gear. I have looked at adding Dragon Horns to my helmet as well as goth/romatic style gear. Of course this is just for parade/rally wear. I wouldn't wear it on my daily commute! Needless to say, this is freaking out my BF, who does not appreciate my penchant for drama and "peices of flair". He is worried I am going to go too far and look, "stupid". Well I am 50 now.. but decorum be DAMNED! I want's to have FUN! How about you ladies... What is your scooter style? Are you utilitarian? Sporty? Girly with pink and flowers and sparkles and stuff? Are you a toughRock-a-Billy chick with tats and peircings? What Scooter-fashion are you rockin'? I think Amerivespa is like the Scooter Sturgis and it is time to go all out and have fun with my scooter? Anyone else agree?

Heh... I've got sea turtles everywhere. On my scooter, on my helmet, even a turtle bottle opener on the pulltab of my leather jacket's zipper.
And yup, folks do chuckle at me. This embarrasses the husband, but he's not usually with me.
I figure I'm old, I can do what I want.

Go for it! My scooter is yellow and covered with lots of flower decals. I've got peace signs and other stickers on my top case and my helmet is a Fulmer "Groovy" 1969 throwback!
I'm 53 and I say ride and dress like you want to! **** 'em if they can't take a joke! See you at AmeriVespa!

I totally agree; go for it! Even though I've never gone to any sort of rally, I find it hard to imagine a more appropriate place for fancy-dress scootering.

Belkie, Amerivespa is the place to really strut your stuff. Absolutely. You will be a hit. It's not the normal scoots that people remember; it's the ones that stand out. Here are some pictures I took when Groovy Mom and I were at the last Amerivespa in NOLA. I imagine there are loads of pictures on scoot.net and elsewhere so you can see some of the fun scooters. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... a906cc97d1

HappyCamper - Thanks for the great shots! Now I am more excited about the trip and attending all the events. Dang it I just have to wait...how many months..(sigh) at least we have the big Motorcycle Swap Meet and Progressive show coming up here in Chicagoland. Gonna look for Dragon Swag for me scooter.

Seriously, Amerivespa is the time and place to go all out. Your BF may roll his eyes, but when he sees some of the other folks and the spirit of the event, I'm sure he'll get over it.

A month away to Amerivespa!! So excited!! We are going to trailer our scoots up from NWFL. Are you going this year Happy Camper?? We are stoked to do the 3 hour 10 lake ride on Friday! This is going to be the closest thing to a real vacation in YEARS!
We are going to take the slow route up via the Great River Road. We are planning on eating at only the finest hole in the walls!!
So excited! Did I mention that already?? LOL

Groovymom already has hotel reservations, and is trying to figure out how to get there - either trailering or flying and renting a scoot, if that's possible. I'll already be in New England when it goes on this year, and for many reasons, will take a pass. Maybe next time will be that east coast destination they had been teasing us with.

I second the sentiments shared here...Go for it !! The link from Happy Camper showed some great scooter looks. You'd probably even win some sort of competition with all that going on I made a "dragon" helmet skin and people get such a kick out of it. Even cagers like to smile and wave when they see our quirky scooter style. After all, if we wanted to just look cool and fast, we probably wouldn't be the scooter-types that we are. Embrace the quirky !!

Divas, finally got an avatar, thanks Happy Camper for the web site and tips. It took several tries, but I finally got it! Woo hoo!
Just got back from the evil Wal-Mart. Wanted a new atlas for the trip to AmeriVespa. I'm trailering up and it is close to 1100 miles for me. I'm really looking forward to it. Taking my Groovy helmet to wear. Bringing my bell bottoms and love beads. Hope to see some of you all there!
