What should I ask/check/verify/on a scooter that has been sitting for years. Looks new but supposedly needs only a battery charge. Is it common to request a vehicle inspection by a dealer prior to making an offer? Yes it looks new....no scratches etc. Been in the garage. I would like it only to drive around a fairly quiet, low auto community, with speed limit of 40mph.

Appreciate all suggestions

Hello Scooter Diva,
Can you post a picture? The yamaha Vino 125 is a great bike.. ha ha I have one, a 2008 that's why I can say that. Although it has been sitting it prob needs a new battery, oil change , tires aired,TLDR(tender loving diva rider)what was the price? A good choice in a scooter.. look at some reviews they are almost all good.. Hope you are soon to be a scootie owner..

I have a vino 50 gently used and it sat for at least 7 months without being turned on or moved even according to the prev owner. My hub changed the oil right away to synthetic he has been running it in his motorcycle forever & swears by it. The oil that was in there was sludgy. We had a bit of a problem with the batt it wasn't holding the charge. My hub put it on the charger & it almost came back, but he decided to buy me a present of a new 'dry cell' batt & I have never looked back.

Check the belts too. Loving my vino and Miss Scootalong makes KICK ASS seat covers for the vino if you want to dress it up a little.

Thanks for the suggestions, don't have picture, cause I have not purchased it. I'll do my checking as you both indicated. You really helped. This site is great. Wonder why there is no Scooter Diva Announcements since 9/22/10? The topic of scooterdiva patches/stickers and donation to the site had lots of activity. Am I missing out on something? Maybe I just need to contact Shellee?? Or spend more time on the site and time will clear the question.

The announcements usually don't get updated that much. Most information comes from the General section.
