my Aunt Francie (Italian) used to make these cookies that her brothers & sons joked about.
They said they were so heavy, they put them in the trunks of their cars to avoid skidding in the snow...needless to say her recipe was not passed down.

Soozn, the trunk of the car - that's just too funny! When I was kid my mom used to make a dessert, I think it was supposed to be date nut pudding. One time she waaay over cooked it and it was super hard. She cut it into little bite size pieces and buried it under cool whip thinking us kids wouldn't notice. One of my brothers said it looked like bricks. We still laugh and ask my mom is she's gonna feed us bricks

Renee- that is so funny---like kids wouldn't notice what is under the cool whip!!
My uncles used to tell us when we were misbehaving that they would give us one of Aunt Francie's cookies...

Is there one in particular that you are looking for? I have a huge collection of recipes and may be able to find it if you knew which one! I like to make unusual cookies for everyone. It makes Christmas fun when you find something a little unexpected.

My new easy favorite cookies! (thanks Shellee!)
Christmas Wreath Cookies
1/2 cup butter
4 cups miniature marshmallows (40 large marshmallows)
1 teaspoon liquid green food coloring
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups corn flakes
Red hot candies
In 2-quart saucepan melt butter and marshmallows over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Add and mix quickly the food coloring, almond and vanilla extracts, then corn flakes.
Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls on buttered waxed paper or aluminum foil. Quickly with buttered fingers, shape into wreaths and decorate with 3 red hot candies each at the top of the "wreath".
Cool completely. Store in sealed container in cool area.
Makes 3 dozen.

We also make fill cookies in our house with prunes, raisins, cherries and chocolate. I will try and scan my Grandmas recipe and get it to you tomorrow. They are to die for!
Another Italian tradition for us at Christmas is pepper biscuits and wine biscuits.
