Me and my first scooter, Starscream. :) I've ordered a Decepticon decal to go on the front and one for my helmet.

Do people assign a gender to their scooter? I go back and forth between him and it, hahaha.

===:)

I love Derbi scooters. Piaggio used to import them in the US, but for some reason stopped.

Skinartia, Looking good! When I got Ladybug, I crawled all over the ground looking up to see if I could find some sex organs. Didn't find a darn thing that looked like those at all. So, I just named her whatever got suggested the most times by friends.

Ellen, I wonder why they stopped bringing in Derbis. That seems odd. I got it "used" at a Vespa dealership but the only reason it was marked as "used" was because it got some scuffing to the body when being taken out of packaging. Score for me!

Nickie, *lol* very nice!

Well, after 2006 when Piaggio bought Derbi from Spain, the Derbi scooters shared the same guts as Vespas and Piaggio scooters. So your Vespa dealer has no problems servicing it. Getting a new out of the box scooter at a discount price is a score for you! =D>

Hmmm. I don't know how that happens. My first scooter, the little Vino 125, was "Scotty." Now, both of my maxiscooters are girls..."Garnet" and "Luna."

Welcome and congratulations on your cute new scooter. Glad you got it for a good price.

I refer to my bikes as her/she but what gender do you want it to be and there you go. :D

Where are you in Winnipeg. I too am from Winnipeg in the Charleswood area near the perimeter I ususlly finish a ride going

through the Assiniboine Park. Perhaps we will see each while out on a ride. I ride a dark red Silverwing.

enjoy your new ride.

Ride safe

Arlene

Hey, Arlene! I'm around the St. Norbert area. Unfortunately, Starscream is having some problems with stalling, etc so I have to take him back to the dealership tomorrow to be looked at. :( I hope they can fix him up ASAP so I can get back to cruising around.

scootalong, I've been trying to find some proper riding gear to no avail (other than a helmet). :( I had a painful wipeout yesterday and the denim jacket and mittens helped to prevent worse damage to me, but it would be nice to have actual gear designed for riding. Poor Starscream has some "character" now with scuffing on the ride side, haha.

hope you are okay... get that gear it will help when you fall. Don't worry about the "character" scuffing it's all battle scars for your scoot. Take care and be careful, have you taken a motorcycle safety class yet?

About jackets... Perhaps you could do one of these?
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/ ... eouts.aspx

This is really an excellent jacket--it's so cheap because it's been replaced with something even better
It's tricky to get the lining and all the zippers adjusted just right
But once you do, it's got a very wide temperature range

This is mine (from the same sale, back when they had larger sizes):
