Hi all!!

I'm a proud newbie to scootering and to a '12 Burgman 650 Exec that did NOT come in the best paint color from the factory!!! It's technical name is "Moonstone Grey", but I call it UGLY!!!! I have fallen in love with what I call the "Burgman Blues" Suzuki really blessed the 400's with better shades of blue than the 650's over the years, and I've got my heart set on one of them...Deep Sea Metallic Blue I think is the technical name for it (frm the '04 400?)...

My biker hubby has never had need of a paint person before and we are novices when it comes to finding a quality person that is reasonable. I don't want a flame job or skulls or flowers, I want copper flakes added to the dark blue paint and some way of pin striping "Lisa's Beast" in copper paint somewhere on the "tupperware."...and maybe a swirl or two somewhere in between!! 8)

Any thoughts on this process?!

Lisa, I don't know how it is now, but about five years ago I got a quote from a body repair business here, to paint the tupperware parts on a little Vino 125, and the quote was over $500...

Funny how very different folks can be, isn't it? I was wanting to have my Yamaha blue/purple Vino125 painted something different than what it was - almost anything different would have been ok with me.

Go to your dealers and ask them if they know a guy/gal. I find that paint folks are usually bike/scooter folks, and they tend to run in similar circles. I'm lucky that DH has connections through work. The guy that fixed and sold my father's Honda Shadow 1100 for us also has a body guy and a paint guy (his brother). Also, I suggest looking for a forum on bikes/painting that is local to your state. Facebook announcements that you are looking also help get the word out.

If you know how to take the body panels off, it would cut the cost some to take them off, cart them to a body shop, and then pick them up and reinstall yourself. If you have a dedicated paint shop that sells automotive paint, they also might also know of someone.
