(No longer) Looking to buy a Aprilia Scarabeo 250 scooter.. must be red, low miles.
Possible 2nd choice is the Scarabeo 200 - in red.

I deleted the details of the truck i was selling and location info that was here.. the truck sold. =D>
I'm still scooter shopping.
I've found that the 250 only was made in red a very short time.

(I'd have deleted the post but the others wouldn't have made sense.. I bought a used Piaggio BV200.)

Use Tempest, and search around your region, or within however many miles you're willing to travel to locate what you want. If you like the big wheel scooters, you might also consider the Piaggio BV200 and 250's, as well as the Kymco People series. The Kymco comes from Taiwan instead of Italy, but is excellent quality and value for the buck.

Hi- Thanks.. yes.. when I was first interested I liked the piaggio 200 etc but after seeing the scarabeo I liked it's style better..
reminds me of a souped up honda passport which was my first bike. I now will probably go for the 200 scarabeo..the 250 seems just a little more bulkier and heavier than I'd like. Seems everytime I find one used it's cheaper to buy the new one locally then spend the gas and put a hitch on my car to go get one used.

Naaaaaaaaaaah, you don't need a hitch on your car....although if you're going to be a dedicated scooter owner, that might travel to other states or regions for rides or rallies, or might need to get it to the shop that way, it's probably not a bad investment. If you have a large vehicle like a truck or SUV, a 200cc will easily go on a dirt bike carrier or Versa Haul mounted in a receiver.

All you need to get a scooter home is a free day off work or chores, and somebody to drive your car back from where the scooter is. Ride there in the car, and ride the scooter back. Easy peasy!

My first scooter was also a Honda Passport (also known as a Honda C70)! Mine was yellow. For a souped up Passport, have you seen the Sym Symba? And in fact, C70's are still very readily available and have lots of aftermarket parts available so you can "soup them up" yourself. Both bikes are clones of the Honda Cub.

Check out this thread, which will lead you to great stories about that style of bike...

yaaaaa i do.. I don't really want my first ride on a new smallish scoot to be 6 hours and that's on the freeway.
Nope.. the 70 could barely drag 2 teenage girls up a hill. My hub may be riding with me
Selling my truck to buy the bike.. subaru would be better with a hitch so I can haul it to the shop if need be or take it elsewhere for nice ride without driving hours to get there. Don't want to be beat from riding when I get there.
I'm too small to get a bike up on a bumper mounted deal.

My passport is still in my mothers garage- unfortunately my sisters now ex made a mess of it and would need some serious repair.
It's red & white- about a '74 with full seat, no rack.

That's awesome. I still have one, although it's not the one I had originally. I ran into a college student who was graduating and had bought it to tool around the University of Florida. Except she'd moved right next to campus so it had been sitting in a tiny garage area for the last few years. It was the same color as I one I had, so I bought it to play with. It's one of my scoots that is easiest to get up on a carrier. It's been in a friend's garage for awhile; he cleaned the carb out for me and put a new leg shield on. The old one was chipped just a little. I was thinking it would be a good bike to take camping. I take the 200cc Vespa on the carrier with no problem, but my 250 is just too big. Two people can physically get it on the carrier, but it's just too much weight to try and strap down that way. That one I only take on the trailer anymore.

Some of the guys here in town have their Passports set up so they cruise happily at 45 with two up. I've also read where some people have put new Lifan 110cc engines in them. The Sym Symba is a modern 100cc copy of the same design, and they're both copies of the Honda Cub, which is known as the most popular and best selling motorcycle in the world. You should be able to get yours back on the road, or to find a home for it. They still have a following and parts are available. I have a real soft spot for the vintage bikes and nostalgia.

I bought my Kymco People 250 when I was looking for a Piaggio BV250. I sort of stumbled on it, and the condition (it was still under it's 2 year warranty) and price were very right, so I took it home. It's been a great bike. It even survived getting hit by a Buick. It's a well made scooter. Kymco made parts under Honda's wing for decades, before going out on their own. At one time, and maybe they still are, the largest scooter manufacturer in the world (you have to remember they're new in the US, and the scooter market worldwide is very different than just what we see here). Sym is the second largest scooter company in Taiwan. They've been trying to get established here in the US.

Anyway, I hope you get a buyer soon for your truck. Sounds like a great deal with such low mileage, that should go quick. Maybe whoever buys the truck would help you bring a new scooter home. Good luck selling and shopping!

Well there's another reason to get the hitch on my car.. I could bring back the 70 from my mom's. My neighbor does all kinds of restoration on cars.. probably could get him to do the passport. It's been sitting in the garage since 1976.
I don't remember exactly what he did to it but I think the front fork / wheel area was shot.. twisted or something. He was an idiot.
I'm pretty sold on the scarabeo 200.. tho will check the motorcity just so see the difference with fuel injection and an extra 50 ccs.
Truck is allegedly being sold tonight =D> - will have enough for either one new if it goes thru.
Update: truck is Gone. :D
