I was using a full-face Shoei RF-1000 helmet (exclusively) in NJ,
but I felt the need of a 3/4 helmet to deal with the heat in SC

Today it was 92F, so I compared this new helmet to my old Shoei

Pros of new helmet:
* It is cooler!
The vents work (once you open them)
and if you tip the shield even one click, a lot of air goes across your face

* The lining is removable
and it continued to feel cooler than the Shoei's during an extended ride

* The visor clicks smoothly into multiple useful positions
and the fully down one prevents much air flow past your face (very helpful, if you have allergies)

The visor also clicks up easily to fully open
and this allows the helmet to catch passing breezes at stoplights

* It's definitely a girlie-styled helmet that no 15 yr old guy in his right mind would touch
Image

* It fits comfortably in the expected size

* It's reasonably priced (mine is on sale for $69 at the Motorcycle Superstore)

* It is lighter than my Shoei

Cons:

* It makes me look like Tron

* It's a lot noisier than my Shoei
I'll be needing earplugs, particularly at speeds above 35 mph

* It does not protect your chin (well, obviously)

Anyway, I'll be wearing it in the hot weather
and returning to my Shoei when it gets cooler

TV- thanks for the mini review of the Scorpion EXO 200. Mine arrived the other day. It has been so cool and rainy here the last week, I have yet to try it.
I did wear it around the house and was pleased to find that it fits my head similarly to the HJC helmets I have worn. The graphics are very pretty--yup no guy would steal this one, unless he wants to give it to his girlfriend....

I have the plain white version and I like it a lot, but now I have the urge to shop for decals.

Great review. Keep in mind that you WILL get bugs hitting you in the lower face with the 3/4 helmet. Luckily, here in Phoenix it is so hot and dry that we don't have many bugs.

Yup, great helmet :)

One of the nice things about it is that you have the option to use a full face shield (no bugs)
or a visor (great for bright sun)

Please ignore the unflattering nature of the pics,
but these are the two options:
(Uglier Tron pic deleted by me)

They both come with the helmet

The helmet is cooler & quieter with the visor,
but the face shield is pretty nice!

The visor is nice, but the faceshield is key if you have allergies
It manages the air flow so that the breeze (& dust & allergens) go around your head,
leaving only a lovely very gentle breeze on your face

The husband's been trying to cheer me up by saying I look like one of the Two Fat Ladies,
but I'm thinking more Tron or a CHP

However, I have high hopes for the dark shield that I've ordered
I'm used to looking like a Power Ranger

I can see tron...no offense..it's funny though now that you mention it. My fiance says I look like the Pink Power ranger. I strike the power ranger pose when he says it...gotta laugh at yourself sometimes.

Exactly!
I was seriously surprised the 1st time I put it on and looked in the mirror

Probably the youngsters don't even get the reference,
but it really makes me feel my age

I have "improved" the helmet by adding a darker shield & some black reflective decals
It is now less girly and visible at night
