My son and I were talking about some of the "rich" sandwiches Elvis is reported to have eaten, and I got to wondering....what is the weirdest sandwich you love?

I don't know if it's weird or not, but I like grilled cheese made with jarlsberg cheese and pesto...YUM!

Not too odd, but tuna salad with onions, hot peppers, tomato, cukes & lettuce.
Pax your grilled cheese with pesto sounds scrumptolicious!

I wouldn't think of cream cheese and jelly; that's one of those things I would look at with raised eyebrows and probably end up liking.
Grilled cheeses are a lot of fun to play around with; so many different cheeses and breads. Growing up, all I ever had was the usual American cheese or cheddar on white. I was in college before I went into a Jewish deli and they served me a grilled Swiss on rye, and made the light bulb go off. I got a bottle of oil once - one of those tall decorative bottles with apples and cinnamon in it. I had no idea what on earth I was ever going to use it for, and then one day made grilled cheeses...I dripped some of that in the pan first, and wow, was that ever yummy. Since, I've kept a full stock of the various flavored oils; lemon, rosemary, basil, garlic....blood orange, grape seed. They're a lot of fun to cook with in general.
I can't do the hot peppers, but I like the sound of cukes in the tuna salad. In the summer, I enjoy basic cucumber slices with a little mayo and black pepper on white bread. Not a sandwich, but my favorite macaroni salad has tuna, onions, and sliced green olives and pimentos in it. I've been known to toss olives on my tuna sandwich because of that.
Do any of you eat potato chips on your sandwiches? I was thinking banana was unusual, but I've put sliced and chopped apples on sandwiches.

My sister-in-law puts potato chips on her tuna sandwiches--I have tried it, but only at her place or in a restaurant that serves potato chips with the meal.. A popular sandwich when I was in high school was peanut butter and marshmallow fluff..... always sounded yucky to me.. I have had peanut butter and banana sandwich , pretty tasty, but sure makes you thirsty. A favorite when I was in high school was cream cheese on date nut loaf. It was Thomas brand date nut loaf ( the English muffin folks)--I do not know if they still make the date nut loaf. great if you have a sweet tooth (like me)

Every time I see this subject header I think it says "what is the oldest sandwich you love" and I think 8 hours is really as long as I could go, even with refrigeration.
In college one semester I dropped the dorm meal plan to make ends meet. My roommates would sometimes sneak back sandwiches for me - typically pb&j. One roommate put potato chips in them.
Potato chips in tuna I think would be fine - in pb&j not so much. She thought it was perfectly normal.
Oddest one I do love - fried bologna

The oddest sandwich I love is warm B&M Boston Baked Beans on white bread.
I do like a Tuna salad sandwich with potato chips. They have to be Sour Cream & Onion Chips!

Ah, see, now there's a twist I hadn't considered....flavored potato chips. Down south, we eat a lot of BBQ, which is almost always served with garlic bread. One of the traditional sides if BBQ beans, and I could make a meal out of just good beans spooned onto good garlic toast. Yum. I don't think this is too odd, but there's another BBQ places that serves an open face roast turkey and gravy, over garlic toast, and is that ever good, too, with the garlic bread.

Another vote in for grilled cheese sandwiches that have been improved
I put in lots of stuff, but one of my favorites would be a grilled Swiss (Jarlberg, Guyere, or whatever) sandwich with caraway seeds, mustard and a bit of cabbage or brussels sprouts
I also really like grilled cheddar cheese sandwiches with a touch of chili seasoning and thinly sliced tomatoes or peppers

this thread is making me hungry! at work we used to have a toasted pita sandwich that had like an italian chicken pasta in it (with 3 colored noodles!) and parmesan and feta cheese. i loved it.. but i think i was the only one.. because they told us to stop making it. delicious and carb-tacular!!

I love Sandwiches!! I like to put chips on my sandwiches. I also like to put different meat on grilled cheese.
My brother's used to eat the peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches.

I think, so far, maybe the noodles are the oddest....but as a whole, so far, I don't think we've found the really odd ones....the ones who add mayo to their banana and peanut butter...or love pickles and peanut butter. I read somewhere about a person who loved sauerkraut and tuna. I love each of those individually, but together...? These sandwiches we're coming up with sound pretty good!
