The forum was started January, 2005.
We've talked about a national rally and even regional ones. But nothing was ever decided upon.

Well alrighty! The logistics can be a little scary but we have all winter to work on it. Let's see if we can pull together something for spring/summer!
2011 will be our year!

I think it's a super idea. Too bad we don't have that map anymore to see what regions have high concentrations of Divas. But consider me standing by to help on the NH and/or north Florida. We've got some beautiful rides along the ocean, a cool Civil War fort you can explore up in Fernandina...the oldest city, St. Augustine, with everything from alligators to a haunted lighthouse...a Spanish fort, and a tiny one you get to by boat. I think there's still at least 2 scooter rental shops there...a major airport, museums, zoo in Jacksonville.

I second that location! A1A is one of the most beautiful rides there is and is a lot flatter and straighter than the mountain rides!

HUM.. St. Augustine or Key West. A lot of rental scooters down there, so no one has to trailer. Something to think about

Karen (scootRlaxmom)...
I received the Buddy keychain today.... thank you so much!
I just finished putting my keys on it and now I am craving a ride! Maybe if the weather holds this weekend, I'll be out there. I've been dealing with a funky knee that's kept me from riding as much as I would have liked, but I'm determined to get in a few more before I tuck my babies away for the winter!
Thanks again!

I would love to see a Scooter Diva Rally. I belong to a women's MC organization that holds an annual rally in a different part of the country each year. The key to their success is that there are chapters all over the country and the chapters in each area do the work for the rally. We don't have a chapter organization. So the rally would have to be in an area where there are enough people to do the work. (Although a lot of stuff can be done with email and phone, there still needs to be a lot of feet on the ground).
Among decisions to be made: would it be an indoor rally, outdoor rally, one day/multi day, hotel or camping accomodations, would there be workshops, rides, vendors? Does the area have riding terrain for various levels? Is the suburban/rural location, (hotel/motel/campground) large enough to host the event? Weekend or mid week. How will we contain costs? Can we charge enough to cover insurance.
We have said in the past that we would love a rally, but we need to be willing to do the work to bring it to reality. We also need to be willing to attend even if it isn't in our neck of the woods. A rally takes a tremendous amount of work. If we do all that work, we want lots of divas to attend.
If a go ahead is decided on, with a location here in the northeast, I'd be willing to be part of the team to make it happen.

Unfortunately, unless the rally was held locally there is pretty much no way I could go, so I would have to pass I just don't have the ability to leave the area. My scooter is my only transportation, and a 150cc isn't suitable for really long distance riding.
