Hi.

First off, the battery on my 2005 Honda CHF50 has been dead for a while now, long enough the license plate expired. I never drove it on the road either, it was a gift. I was wondering if I could use a normal charger on it so it will charge up or something, but I don't want to drive to the dealer.

Then I have a old electric one that the charger broke, the part that hooks up to the scooter, I I'm pretty sure there is no replacement.

Thanks.

The battery is probably not worth charging. But if you do ever charge a scooter battery, do not use a standard automobile charger.

A battery should be charged at 10% of it capacity. Most scooter and motorcycle batteries have about 10 Amp Hr capacity.
That means they should be charged at about 1 amp/hour. Many car chargers are 6 or 10 amp/hr chargers which would overheat
the scooter battery, thus destroying its usefullness.

Get a battery maintainer (Wal Mart sells a Schumacher unit in the battery dept for about $20). Maintainers charge at about 1 amp/hr
and are smart enough to maintain a battery at full charge without damage to the battery. They come with a pig-tail
connector that can be left attached to the battery to facilitate rapid connection and disconnection.

Scoot safely,

Yeah couldn't agree more, I've had the same experience. It's best to just get a new one.
