A group of scooterists on both sides of the pond are working to put together this rally in Cocoa Beach, FL for February of next year...how cool is THAT?

Apparently the last shuttle launch date has now been changed to that weekend. The rally hotel was already sold out just now when I tried to get a room. All the beaches hotels will now fill up fast, then the ones over towards I95. IF you are reading this and have an interest in attending, you should get on it and reserve a hotel immediately. I called one other place that was full, and then just took a room at the Motel 6, which is maybe 2 miles down the beach. There are 2 Motel 6's in the area; one is on the beach, one inland a bit. sidestep.com is a great site to check hotel availability.

OK, I'm in! Got a suite for the weekend. Will bring the girls so they can see a lift-off. However, I will be SHOCKED if it actually takes off on that date. Almost never makes it on the original date and if it's a cold weekend - that will affect the date. We'll see!

Well, with Discovery's launch pushed back to Feb 24th, it looks like I'll probably be down there after. So if I do get down for the launch, I'm going to stick around for the rally. I'll need to see about renting a scooter for it, but I do want to be a part of it if I am already there in town.

Um, yeah. I got a bit lucky the first time, I was chosen to be a part of the NASATweetup for her launch in the fall, and have been watching launch dates since September! So I really didn't think it would happen at first. But when the mission managers set the launch date for the 24th of February, I started dreaming a bit of scooters as well as shuttles.

BTW, did I say I am really jealous? Its been in the low 30's here, raining all day and now its snowing.

Groovymom, ageekgirl, GM's cousin Penny (a Chrome Diva who rode her Honda MC to the event), and I had breakfast this morning together at the Waffle House this morning before we all headed off to make our way home. I wish I had counted the scooters that were at the rally. I didn't expect to see many, because of all the attendees from overseas, but there were trailers there from PA, DC, MI, MO, OH..saw scooter plates from MA, CT, NY...there were a bunch of scoots there (mostly vintage, and mostly Vespa, although all were welcome and there were several others represented). I think we saw Scooterbug's LX150 there this morning when the herd was thinned out and you could walk around more...so there were a few of us Divas there. The weather was wonderful all weekend. Got in some great riding, picked up good deals from Scooter Mercato and Scooters Originali (sponsors/vendors at the rally), had some great Cuban food...but the best part, of course, was the camaraderie and fellowship with a good bunch of folks.

I've gotten gotten home and gotten my camera pictures from the launch and rally downloaded to my netbook, now I've got to get 'em online so I can share! I'm pretty fried mentally and physically right now, so by tomorrow night I hope to be a bit more with it, since I think I may not be making much sense right now.
