Ones to avoid because of wonky return policies, slow shipping, always out of stock, et cetera.

I'm ready to start buying some goodies: jacket, helmet -- but there are quite a few places to choose from.

I've looked at motorcycle-superstore, revzilla, leatherup, cyclegear -- probably a dozen others.

Just looking for some opinions from those "in the know" :)

I like the old "New Enough", currently http://www.motorcyclegear.com/
for their pictures of the merchandise on real people.

You should check their return policy at http://www.motorcyclegear.com/info_page ... anges.html
and also any other place you get gear.

Like Linda, New Enough.... good info, prices and fast shipping.

Also good are: DennisKirk.com & LeatherUP.com

Scoot safely,

While not a superstore, GoGo Gear is good stuff. And good peeps.

Motorcycle Superstore has a really lame return policy. You will have to pay the return shipping. Boo.
I have never returned anything to them because of this even though I once bought a jacket that wasn't quite right (a little too big even though the size chart said it would fit right.)
On the plus side, I always got my items quickly and they were well packed.

I've never bought from other online gear merchants.

My online helmet experience...

I bought a helmet from an online store. I wore it for 20 minutes and realized it didn't fit. Even tho I had taken the measurements, this does nothing but give you a GUESSTIMATE of what might work.

I sent the helmet back and they promptly mailed it right back to me!!

Why?

They said I had worn it, and it had MAKEUP ON THE INSIDE.

Really? A miniscule, barely detectable dusting of pink powder rouge... maybe. I brushed at the cheek pads it came right off. Okay now what?

I emailed them and they refused to take it back.

So beware ladies. Try those helmets on in a shop, make sure they fit and THEN go order them online. Because if you put in on, they will find make-up, a hair or something to cancel the return.

MotorcycleGear (New Enough) has supper fast shipping.
Motorcycle Superstore is really good for tires.
I've had no problems with either of those or Revzilla, Jafrum, Leatherup, or Dennis Kirk.I know I've ordered more stuff but I can't remember from who right now. I'm sure I'd remember them if I had a problem.
I've bought stuff from CycleGear but only at the store, never ordered. They seem to have a good policy on helmets. They offer a 7 day exchange so you aren't stuck with something that doesn't fit right. Problem for me is they don't carry the brand that I find fits me best.
Bike Bandit seemed sort of slow on shipping.
I had problems with Iron Pony. Didn't have things in stock they said they did and once shipped the wrong thing. I avoid them now.

Thank you, Ladies!

So far I've ordered two jackets from LeatherUp -- I'm going to keep one even though neither one fits me perfectly. I'll just keep the one I like best, and later, if I find a jacket I like the fit better, I'll just sell this one on eBay.

I ordered my helmet from Revzilla. I ended up getting the GMax GS45S Modular -- mainly because it has a built-in "blinkie light" on the back. Not sure I love it, either, but I haven't worn it around and gotten used to it yet. The cheek pads squish my face all in, making me look like some weird sort of fish  I will visit some local shops and try some more on.

I also ordered "Proficient Motorcycling" by Hough. What an awesome book!!!
And since it wasn't enough to make the $25 for free shipping, I ordered a cool little drink holder that clips onto your cargo hook and one of those spider-looking cargo bungee thingies.

I also have some "bling" ordered from ScooterWorks: some diamond tread pieces for the floorboard and a carbon fiber fender, since my fender got kinda messed up during the transport.

Now, gloves.... #-o

I'd also strongly suggest getting Dave Hough's book, Street Strategies. It describes in detail real-life street situations that can occur and how to avoid or handle them when they do.

I've bought a few things from http://www.compacc.com and been nothing but happy. they often have overstock sales too.
