In my quest to explore adding a bigger scoot at some point I test rode these two scooters at my local Honda dealer today.
After lusting for the PCX since last year, I was surprized to find that I like riding the Elite 110 better!
It just felt more responsive, maneuverable, and peppy to me. I am going to do a write up on my blog about my experience, but I'd love to hear from any of you who got to try out, or now own, one of thest two scooters!
I am just exploring, so no decisions or plans yet...

I own a PCX since Halloween time.....I sold my Yamaha Majesty on Craigslist for it for a couple of reasons. The Majesty was 460 pounds and a little too tall for me. I had it for 3 years, and never felt "safe" on it. And, since I decided that I no longer want to do the "long" rides with my scooter club and wanted a smaller scooter for errands, work etc....I started doing research. I fell for the PCX after coming across a forum for it at clubpcx.com. Its half the weight and I can flat foot it. It rides smoothly, and can go 60 mph easily even with two people on it. (I must admit its a little tight with two compared to the Majesty but not uncomfortable). It also gets 110 mpg. The cons I notice are that the tires are sooo much smaller than the Majesty's that on wetish roads I feel a little slipping; but the pro to the smaller tires is I feel much more confident turning corners. Another con is how the seat closes.....most bikes you just let it fall down and it locks shut. Not this bike, you have to line it up on the closing part and gently push down till it clicks......it takes practice but I finally mastered it. As for storage, you can fit a helmet under the seat and a "light" jacket....not an armored one along with some small stuff. And it has a small glove box that doesn't fit much. Because of all that, I ordered a removable Cortech tail bag and some scooter saddle bags from Shade Tree Powersports that I use for grocery shopping ect.....I don't want anyting permanently mounted cuz I like how the scoot looks by itself. There is also a Sport windshield on the bike.....I belive you can order a larger one. All in all, I love it....and am glad I made the switch. The gentleman who bought my Majesty sold his Goldwing for the same reason....too heavy etc......good luck with whichever scooter you choose!! PS...my avatar is the Majesty....I'll change it to my Candy Apple red PCX soon....

Thank you for sharing your experience with the PCX! Coming from a Ruckus, it felt HUGE to me! Isn't that funny? Guess it is what we get used to! So you are able to drape saddle bags on it? That was good to know. I just got myself a Cortech Tail Bag for my Ruckus for shopping expeditions too. I chose it because I felt that it and the matching Cortech saddlebags would fit also onto a second, bigger scooter if I got one. Wondering...would you consider it comfortable enough to take on tours on back roads? (not Interstates, I don't do them!) Anyway, so glad you are loving it!

Yes, it will be quite comfortable for leisurely back road rides for you....with more leg room than the Ruckus. When I bought mine, it was parked next to an Elite (which honestly had a "little" more underseat storage, but after looking both over, I like the PCX better like I said in above post...it was styled more like my Majesty and looked like it would be more comfortable. As for the saddle bags, www.shadetreepowersports.com has a whole page in their paper catalog devoted to scooter stuff. The saddle bags are ScootR Logic Bags at $39.99 item number 171-001. They have adjustable straps to fit your bike and the straps just lay under the seat. Some people place Glad Wrap on their bike sides under saddle bags to prevent scratching. I believe if you type in the word scooter in their search box you will come up with the scooter stuff........also, check ebay or amazon for the same product, you may find it cheaper!! (sorry for no pix, but im not savvy with that kind of puter stuff) So, with my tail bag and saddlebags, im ready for shopping!!! And, I remove them when im done so I have the best of both worlds with regards to the "look" of the bike.

I just poked around their site......when typing "scooter' you can see the saddlebags, but like I said in the paper catalog they have a devoted page to scooters with stuff like: a hard case, water bottle holders, back packs/bags, windshields and underseat bags..so if you want to see that stuff, you probably have to type it in separtely.

Update: I went back today to the dealer and wound up putting a deposit down on the black Elite 110! I should be riding it within the next month or two! Thanks for the great website tips!

I've only seen the Elite sitting at dealerships - I haven't ridden one...but it has always struck me as a very sharp looking bike. Congrats!!

I love the style of the elite. I've never ridden one, but the people that have them seem to love them just fine.

Thanks for the great website tips! I am having reservations about this choice, as described in my blog. I am planning to test ride a Genuine Buddy 125. I have never ridden one and I've read excellent reviews about it and the Buddy 150. I really want to try one out. Not only that, but I am seeing used ones for half the price of the Elite. Heck, the new ones beat the Honda pricing!

Personally, I have no qualms about buying used at all. I save up my money, and go buy whatever used vehicle I can for the money I have in my hand. Period. Scooters are not usually a vehicle that gets used every day....yeah, I know, we have some die hards here, but I mean in general....they are very, very often bought and then put in the garage and ignored, a lot....and that means there are a lot of great deals out there on used scoots. As for the difference between a 110 and a 125? Well, that's not a whole lot. But, it may be that you simply LIKE one over the other. And that's fine. Don't sweat the small stuff too much. All the scoots you mentioned are great, and they all have their pros and cons. Here's an article you might have already read: http://www.justgottascoot.com/buddy.htm#Buddy%20ReviewYou know, part of it, too, is what you have in front of you. One of these scoots may have a better mirror....but if another model, in great shape, popped up on CL for the right price. One of them will feel right. Heck, I saw a used Mojito on CL not long ago. Keep an open mind. Don't make yourself crazy. One of them will feel right.

if you want a personal recommendation, I love my buddy 150. The 125 is fine too, and gets better gas mileage. a tiny bit less from takeoff but not much, and you won't really notices the top end. you will notice 80-90mpg once it's broken in though!
The Buddy line has really evolved. Here in CO you see a ton of them, and the local Piaggio dealer has so far been great to me (Sportique).
The elite 110 isn't bad, but I just like my buddy more...

Thanks for all your comments and support!
I went back and rode the Elite 110 today and found out that I can get more of a discount on the scooter and some additional discounts on a topcase and other goodies at the dealership too!
Another factor is that I've got 2 Honda Powersports dealers within an hour's ride of my location. Got to have access to a reliable mechanic should I need service for the scoot!
So I am going forward with the new Elite 110. I think it is a nice scoot and a pretty good deal!
