I thought some of you might like to see an alternate way to mount your gremlin bell. This seemed like a good place to show how I did mine. It hangs low enough to grab those nasty gremlins before they can get high enough on Miz Gilly to cause her problems but also 'out' there enough to be easily seen and heard (but not when you're throttled up! :) ). Hopefully some of you will have a spot to use on your scoots just as suitable.

I bought a replacement link for a bicycle chain Image at the local bike shop. I then drilled out one of the holes, in the flat double holed piece, large enough to fit the size of the scoot's bolt. I slid the bell onto a sturdy split ring and threaded the split ring onto the smaller hole. You can now use this in place of or in addition to the washer your bolt has. Close up view: Image
Now the license plate frame I made is a whole 'nother project!

Thanks guys! My scoot is the St Tropez model of the "Internationals" so I believe the F is for France. The blue thingy next to the bell are pieces of turquoise. In ancient times it was thought to protect horses and riders from accidental falls. Figured it might help Miz Gilly be a bit more sure-footed!! lol The license frame is swarovski type crystals, gem-tac glue and hours with a pair of forceps. whew! I was pretty happy with the way it turned out though.

Yep! The Italia has an "I" and the Pamplona, I believe, has an "E" for Espana.

I mounted mine over my exhaust:

I'm a little worried about someone stealing it
but I figure, "What kind of luck would that bring them?"

Ruckus gal,
That is certainly a long ways for a gremlin to jump up and fall off to the ground! Keep this in mind......

The Legend of the Gremlin Bell
The bell is more than just decoration- it has a specific function. One of life's mysteries is the little gremlin that lives on your bike. It is responsible for most of your bikes's problems. Road gremlins can't live in the presence of a bell. They get trapped in the hollow of the bell, then the constant ringing and confined space of the bell drives them insane. They lose their grip and fall to the roadway. The bell has served its purpose. If you have picked up a bell of your own, the magic will work . If your bell was given to you as a gift, the power has been doubled.

A split ring key ring!! What a great idea!!

I've always just used zip ties to attach mine. I put it on the security loop, which isn't good for a whole lot else, on my GTV. I usually make it a point to switch out the zip tie occasionally, but I didn't check it frequently enough. Lost my bell about a week ago! Luckily it was days after I got a major tune up, so I'm not too worried. And another is on the way from my mom. :)
