(Stoopid first post, but what the $#%&.)
What with gas prices (and maybe a little pre-midlife-crisis), I am getting serious about buying a scooter. The caveat - I have to dress somewhat professionally [But no panty hose! (No capes!)] for work, and that means occasionally (especially in summer) wearing a dress or skirt.
Now, I understand that an above-knee skirt is asking for trouble on a scooter... BUT have any of you ridden with a below-the-knee skirt and managed to keep panties covered? (Yeah, I know I should always wear long pants - but I got really good at growing new skin during my cycling years, and I don't have much of Kansas embedded in me yet...)
This is also a bone of contention between my husband and myself - he wants me to consider getting a small motorcycle. I want a scooter - for the skirts, and to be more vertical so I don't have to hold up my heavily helmeted head (this is one place I do intend to have full protection).
Thanks, the primadogga

okay, I love this topic!
I bought a scooter so I could wear skirts. I like em, I wear them probably 50% of the time I ride. I've even worn miniskirts in the past. Your panties won't show- it's no big deal. If you wear straight or pencil skirts, you'll have to hike them up a little to get over the seat. You might be cold- you might be risking major road rash, but you'll look good. Another thing, which is what i've been doing for cold weather is get a par of rain pants designed for motorcycles and wear them over your skirt/dress. If you buy them big and baggy in the crotch they don't interfere with your skirt much (mine are a men's large, and I'm pretty petite.) Then you can roll them up and stuff them under your seat or whatever storage area your scoot has, and walk into work poised and pretty. Also- two words- leg warmers!

Thanks for the invite.
Yes, I'm the author of that infamous series of articles on MSNBC.com.
I'm surprised and flattered that people are still reading it.
Thanks again,
